Production
From declassified plots of the grand cru and vinified with 50% whole clusters, the 2018 Klingenberg Spätburgunder offers a very intense and perfectly ripe, intense and concentrated dark cherry bouquet. On the palate, this is a tight, fresh, lush and persistently salty Pinot with concentration, grip and mineral tension, remarkable intensity as well as very fine but firm and sustainable tannins.

Tasting notes
Darkly fruited and perfumed, led by black cherry, black raspberry, forest floor, and dark chocolate along a silken palate. Tannins are fine and furry, housing this somewhat haunting, brooding pinot through a spiced finish.
Food match
Drinking well now, ideally with wild mushroom or roast pork dishes.
